Ravi Shankar Shukla
Ravi Shankar Shukla is an IAS Officer of the 2012 Batch from the Jharkhand cadre. He is a gold medalist in LL.B. (Hons.) from the University of Lucknow and a gold medalist in LL.M. from the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru. He was also a Linnaeus-Palme Exchange scholar to the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden, where he studied water governance. He has qualified for UGC-NET and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
He had been Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate of districts like Latehar, Hazaribagh, East Singhbhum, Dumka, and Saraikela-Kharsawan district in Jharkhand. He also served as the Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) in the State of Jharkhand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his tenure as DC Dumka, he founded and conducted the Dumka State Library Literature Festival twice, reviving a seventy-year-old Mobile Library in recognition of the literary history of the Santhal Praganas. His initiative to provide online classes and the use of Edtech in government schools with the help of a startup was recognised and was awarded the National E-Governance Award.
He played a significant role in securing the GI tag for Sohrai painting, marking the first such recognition for the State of Jharkhand. His contributions to the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission were acknowledged by the Government of India through several awards. Additionally, he represented the country at the World Water Week in Stockholm in 2019. He also led the Land Record Modernization Program in the Dumka district, for which the district received an award from the Honorable President. Furthermore, he has been honored with the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Administration 2024 for his outstanding work in the Aspirational Block Program.
